Gordon Ramsay doesn’t have a reputation for mincing words. Present a dish before His Royal Swearness and you’ll get screened on everything – taste, presentation, and even texture. After all, this is a man who has been known to describe an aspiring restaurateur’s meal as a deep-fried giraffe’s tongue. When it comes to food, he certainly has no problem saying exactly what he thinks. Just take a look at hoe he rips into this restaurant for its unsavory food quality standards.
Ramsay’s tell-it-like-it-is attitude has not only made him famous, it has got him smiling all the way to the bank. Forbes estimates that he made $54 million in 2016 – exactly the same amount as Beyonce. According to the magazine, Ramsay’s earnings are the product of not only his culinary empire but are especially boosted by his media career.
“He couldn’t rely on his cooking chops alone–although he did earn double digit millions from his 25 restaurants, which, between them, have seven Michelin stars. Ramsay had to create a different type of empire: a television one.
“As the producer and star of three hit shows on Fox –Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef and MasterChef Junior-Ramsay has managed to parlay his chops at the stove to chops in front of the camera.”
This “empire” includes a regular salary of over $400,000 an episode for his Fox shows which, at 51 episodes a year, adds up to a lot of money! He also licenses cookbooks, kitchen utensils and even recently released a mobile game called Gordon Ramsay Dash. Gordon is one busy man!
