CLEVELAND, Ohio — Memphis finally drew “antifreeze” against the San Antonio Spurs and Kawhi Leonard.
Leading into their Game 3 matchup in the NBA Western Conference playoffs, Memphis coach David Fizdale suggested Leonard is not human.
“He was standing next to me the other night, he wasn’t breathing,” Fizdale said as reported by the San Antonio Express-News. “He wasn’t breathing. So I’m going to check the rulebook and find out if robots are allowed to play in the NBA, because somehow Pop and them have figured it out. They know something I don’t know.”
Fizdale added, “I think he bleeds like antifreeze of something.”
Just two days after a frustrating loss that put Memphis in a 2-0 hole, Fizdale found a comedic moment. His team found a way to slow the machinelike Spurs and Leonard later that night, 105-94.
Memphis’ turnaround win came after Fizdale was fined for criticizing the officiating in Game 2. It also put a cap on Thursday night, which featured the Cavaliers’ historic playoff comeback and the Milwaukee Bucks’ blowout of Toronto in the East.
This playoff rewind catches you up on what happened Thursday.
