Former Chief White House Photographer Pete Souza might no longer be photographing the US President, but he’s certainly keeping busy. Souza’s Instagram account, which now boasts 1.1 million followers, is a treasure trove of special snaps from the Obama administration – as well as clever digs at the current president.
Souza, a renowned photojournalist who also worked as President Reagan’s chief photographer, has been posting timely pictures appearing to troll President Trump. For example, Souza uploaded an image shortly after a Hawaii judge blocked Trump’s travel ban. Judge Derrick Watson issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against Trump’s travel restrictions, and issued this scathing critique of the policy.
“The illogic of the government’s contentions is palpable. The notion that one can demonstrate animus toward any group of people only by targeting all of them at once is fundamentally flawed.”
Souza’s picture and accompanying caption were as follows:
Clearly not a fan of Trump’s executive order then! Other examples of Souza’s Insta-trolling include this picture of Obama photo-shopped into a microwave – a thinly veiled dig at accusations that Obama’s administration used household appliances to spy on Donald Trump.
The original image this parody was based on, was in itself a tongue-in-cheek post, as seen in the caption that accompanied it.
We can’t talk about Souza’s trolling without mentioning the time he threw shade at Trump’s tweeting habits.
If after that, you’re still not sure whether or not Souza is a Trump fan, check out his latest pictures – all uploaded amidst commentary about the awkward moment when Trump appeared to snub an opportunity to shake German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s hand.
He might no longer be the Chief White House Photographer, but Souza seems to have embraced a new role as Head Trump Troll. Pure comedy goals.
