When dinosaurs crop up in films, they tend to be pretty stereotypical. Most of the time, they will stroll in, destroy a few trees, kidnap a woman and ask for the equivalent of a ransom in dinosaur-speak a.k.a. roaring. The dinosaur is an entity to be feared, and is depicted as the bad guy in almost every film.
But what if we’ve got the dinosaur wrong this whole time? We don’t know the softer side of the dinosaur. There’s got to be a few dinosaurs out there who just like a nice cup of tea and a good chat about The Great Paleontological Beak Off. Not all dinosaurs are monsters, after all.
As it turns out, we may not truly understand the dinosaur at all. Matthew Baron, a PhD student at the University of Cambridge, undertook a three-year experiment to analyse the evolution of dinosaurs and discovered some surprising results. His findings mean that the agreed theory of the evolution of dinosaurs may have to be rewritten, if experts agree with the results of Baron’s experiment.
