Suspect Who Shot And Killed An Innocent Man Has Been Found Dead

The man who was suspected of murdering an Ohio grandfather and recording footage that was posted on Facebook has taken his own life, according to Pennsylvania Police.

37-year-old Steve Stephens posted horrifying footage of himself shooting and killing 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr on a street in Cleveland on Easter Sunday, blaming the attack on his girlfriend, Joy Lane, who had recently broken up with him. The Facebook video remained online for around three hours before being deleted by Facebook, and sparked a nationwide manhunt for the man who claimed the killings were part of an “Easter Sunday Massacre”.

Across the nation, law enforcement received hundreds of tips relating to reported sightings of Steve Stephens, but after a short car chase in Erie, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania law enforcement reported on social media that Stephens had committed suicide. According to, Steve Stephens was “found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound in white Ford Fusion on Buffalo Road”, and that “state police had been following the car as it was headed west into the city of Erie”.

The suspect had worked at a behavioural health agency for at-risk children before carrying out his attack, but had told his mother that he was suicidal, and likely to kill people. After a brief chase at around 11:10 am, Steve Stephens took his own life, and this manhunt has come to an end.
