At Greenwood High School in South Carolina, high school student Taylor Bates got bullied about his shoes and the way he looks. Kids would tease him about the fact that he’s an aspiring rapper, discouraging him from his dreams. But Tay did not accept the negativity.

Knowing about Taylor’s situation, Tay went out of his way to buy a brand new pair of Retro 1 Jordan shoes for Taylor after hearing about how he had wanted it (they’re really nice basketball shoes). He thought that the gift would cheer him up from all the negative things that people say to him at school.

Shocked, Taylor accepted the gift and immediately knew he found a frieThat same day, Taylor uploaded a picture he took with Tay online, where you could tell that his day was made. Even though it’s one of the only two photos he posted to Instagram, the photo had been liked 9,851 times in two weeks.

Victims of bullying don’t often have kind people like Tay around to be there for them. Having a good friend and support group is very important. School isn’t always easy to get through if a couple of kids are bullying you. For Taylor, the pair of Jordan shoes meant the world.

The special part of this story is that Tay did this out of love. Tay humbly explained, “I heard people have been bullying you, so I wanted to get you these to make you feel better.”

This nice gesture took Taylor by surprise, and he didn’t know what to think of it. Taylor’s reaction even led him to ask, “You want me to pay you for them?”

Tay simply responded: “No, bro! I bought them for you.” It was as simple as that.

It’s not everyday that you hear about random acts of kindness like this. There are far more people who would rather stand idly by when someone is being mistreated instead of trying to bring everybody together. It takes a big-hearted person to step up and lend a helping hand. Tay Moore, this one’s for the books!
