The Grand Ole Opry is a very special venue that is often linked to country performances, and it truly is a perfect fit for Jonathan Jackson. Although the actor has performed a couple of songs on the television show, nobody expected his country singing voice to be this good.

“I grew up listening to a lot of country music and Elvis gospel music, so whatever nerves I had were channeled towards wanting to do something that was honoring to my dad,” Jackson told Digital Journal after his performance. “I actually felt pretty comfortable when I was out there performing on the Opry,” he said.

The song ‘Unchained Melody’ is perhaps one of the most recorded songs of the past century, with more than 500 different singers performing their own rendition of the song. Alex North composed the melody while Hy Zaret wrote the lyrics. The song gained a lot of popularity due to its inclusion in the somewhat obscure movie Unchained in 1955. Ten years later, the song hit the top charts with a new version performed by The Righteous Brothers. Many musical legends have covered the popular song, including Elvis Presley, Cyndi Lauper, Barry Manilow and Il Divo. And now, you can add Jonathan Jackson to that list.

Whether it’s acting or singing, the talented Jonathan Jackson certainly can hold his own. Be sure to watch his amazing rendition of Unchained Melody in this beautiful and historic venue in the video below.
